The Butterfly Effect
Check out the link to this amazing project. One and a half million children lost their lives in the Holocaust and the Holocaust Museum of Houston Texas is mounting an exhibition of butterflies to honour each life lost......1.5 million butterflies are needed for this project.....I am rounding up all the artist and kids I know to get working!

Turning Reeds in to Paper!
During my many swamping trips this fall I collected bagfuls of reeds, cut
them up and then cooked them. Last weekend I went to the Studio in St.Albert and put my cooked reeds in to the Hollander to beat them in to a pulp.....literally!

I added a wee bit of Ababaca and the result is some very nice medium brown paper with long flecks in.
I had lots of advice and tips from Barb our paper maker extraordinaire. Thanks Barb! Now I have to bind these papers in to a book.

Tenth day of the tenth month of two thousand and ten.
We went down to the river this morning to collect branches for Rozina's twig archway we are building. There were so many red rose hips that I collected some of those aswell.
Then she found a fallen nest, which I thought needed a little something. So I added some rocks
.
We came home and made a marvelous thanksgiving supper.Check out these amazing Yorkshire Puddings!

A Nest!
I am so lucky to live just a short walk from an area of wetland where the rushes and willows grow tall. Today after many searches at last I found one red winged blackbird's nest. It is amazing how these birds so very cleverly weave grasses in and out to anchor their structure to the thin tall stems of the willows.
It was woven around seven uprights and hang in perfect balance.

A walk in the reeds
I used to have a web site many moons ago but life happened and I let everything go . So I am starting anew with a new computer ( IMac) and new technology with the intention of documenting my creative pursuits at least on a weekly basis.
Yesterday I went for a walk in the swamp at the end of our road.
The reeds are taller than me and it was quite wonderful to walk amongst them, listening to the leaves swaying in the breeze. I am going back there later on today to see if I can find some Red Winged Blackbird nests. In the spring this wetland is filled with their song and bright flashes of red as they take to the sky.
I wonder what I'll find?
